Its true, Nicaragua has its fair share of bugs & critters. Here’s a few pictures that I’ve taken of my housemates since we moved to San Juan del Sur about a year and a half ago.

These guys are very common here and get worse when it starts to rain. Luckily for us, for most people the sting is much like a bee, followed by numbness of tongue. You feel normal again a few hours later.

I pulled this guy out of my daughter's pony tail one day. It still gives me the heebie jeebies. From what I hear, these large spiders do not bite.

We have a lot of wasps where we live, these are the smaller ones. We also have fairly large red wasps. Lately since the rain, they have started building large hives.

Stickbugs have great camouflage, but when its this large, they are pretty easy to spot below the arm of your chair.

These common grasshoppers are always around. At first Titus was scared of them, but now he enjoys torturing them with sticks to make them jump.
